Vibrations Urbaines has been the leading urban culture festival in the region for over 20 years (first edition in 1997). The program includes skateboard, BMX, trot competitions, the Pessac Battle Arena (breakdance hip hop), concert nights, street art performances and exhibitions, a national contemporary urban art contest, a multimedia space, and free workshops for ages 12-25. I created a new graphic identity for the 22nd edition, distributed throughout Bordeaux. The identity fuses several urban cultures into a single illustration: breakdance, skateboard, BMX, and music. All united in a Street Cyberpunk universe that represents both time and urban culture instantly recognizable to everyone.
Combining four distinct disciplines (breakdance, skateboard, BMX, music) into one cohesive illustration. Staying true to the festival’s 20+ year legacy while introducing a fresh, contemporary look. Using Street Cyberpunk aesthetics without alienating older attendees or families. Ensuring the identity works across posters, flyers, digital media, and city-wide signage.
Create a vibrant, energetic visual that captures the raw creativity of urban culture. Design a unified illustration where breakdance, skateboard, BMX, and music coexist naturally. Embed a Street Cyberpunk mood that feels timeless yet forward. Make sure every person attending the festival can see themselves reflected in the identity.
Started with research on the festival’s history and the diversity of its disciplines. Explored how to visually merge skateboarding, BMX, breakdance, and music. Developed a Street Cyberpunk direction neon accents, futuristic textures, gritty urban backgrounds, but with warm human silhouettes. Sketched multiple compositions until all four activities fit harmoniously. Chose colors that pop against both daylight and night-time concert settings. Tested the illustration across large-scale banners (street presence) and small formats (flyers, social media). Delivered a final identity that was printed and distributed across Bordeaux, celebrating 22 years of urban energy.
